Growing Georgia’s Digital Health Community Through Acquisitions

According to a recent article published in Hypepotamus, 2022 is shaping up to be a strong year for the Atlanta healthtech scene, which experienced tremendous growth in 2021. With a new series of fundings and acquisitions are already underway, the metro-Atlanta area is helping to solidify Georgia’s national leadership position in digital health.

The article highlights some of the more notable deals according to Crunchbase data, Copient Health, led by industry veteran Michael Burke, who previously served as founder/CEO of Clockwise.MD (acquired by DocuTAP) and Dialog Medical (now part of Taylor Healthcare). The team announced a $3.2M Series A round that was led by Atlanta Ventures with participation from First Trust Capital Partners and continued investment from Atlanta Seed Company.

On the acquisition front, Trella Health, (funded by Atlanta-based Panoramic Ventures and Chicago-based Cressy & Company) acquired Tennessee-based PlayMaker Health. The company offers an analytics solution specifically designed for the healthcare space and aims to create a comprehensive CRM solution for the post-acute care market intelligence, engagement, and growth.
